Damien’s GC8 from UK

Name: Damien (Instagram: 666gc8)
Age: 33
City: Perth
Car: Impreza UK turbo
Occupation: Rail maintenance

This is my UK 2000 Turbo Impreza GC8 which is a work in progress. It’s a UK 2000 2.0L with a VF35 turbo from a UK STI. I bought the car just over 2 years ago and got to modifying it pretty much straight away. Like all old cars it has it’s ups and downs but I wouldn’t swap it for anything else. The U.K. turbo Impreza came from the factory with 215bhp which in today’s standards is nothing, but 16 years ago was pretty impressive for a family saloon. At the moment I’m running between 330-350bhp which I feel is enough at the as I have also stripped out the rear interior.

I’m lucky living where I do as I have access to some of the best Impreza tuners in the world consisting of Andy Napier and the guys @ RA Motorsport along side mapping god, Andy Forrest. I’ve tried to do my own thing when it comes to visual mods (which isn’t exactly been taking too well in the UK Subaru scene). I like to take inspiration from other sectors of the car scene i.e Nissans Volkswagen and yes even Hondas lol.

What was your first upgrade? Goodridge braided hoses.

What was your latest upgrade? RA Motorsport oil catch can.

Transmission: Standard 5spd transmission, Excedy clutch, quick shift.

Suspension: Tein coilovers, STI alloy wishbones.

Brakes: Compbrake 4pot front calipers, Pagid 300mm discs and pads, Goodridge braided hoses, standard UK turbo rear calipers pads & discs.

Wheels & Tires: Rota GTR-D 9.75×18 et20, Toyo proxes T1R 245/40

Exterior: Abwmotorsport fender flares, Abwmotorsport ducktail, Abwmotorsport time attack front spliter, Abwmotorsport headlight delete drilled for air duct, carbon fiber side mirrors, clear crystal indicators, carbon dipped fog light covers, Impreza carbon badges, STUKE rear bumper air diffusers, carbon dipped hood scoop and vents, TRS tow strap, pink Impreza badge, bonnet bra.

Interior: Corbeau clubman seats, Buddyclub seat rails, TRS 3point harnesses (street legal), Hkb steering wheel boss, Driftworks deep dish steering wheel, zero-1000 gear 5spd shifter, rear interior stripped.

Do you have anymore plans for this car? Too many to list.

If you could change anything on your car, what would it be? Transmission.

Why? It can’t handle the power.

Previously owned cars? Ford mk2 Xr2, corsa c Sri, mk5 Astra Sri cdti 150hp, 2x Impreza gf8 turbos, Impreza gf8 wrx, civic ep3 typeR.

What car would you like to buy next? R32 GTR

I think a lot people have forgotten what it really means to modify your car. We are too quick to judge someone because it’s not what we like ourselves. The whole point in modifying your car is to do your own thing. If you don’t like my car I really don’t care, because I do, and that’s all that matters. So, when you build something remember it’s for you, not some nobody that feels the need to say what he/she thinks is wrong with it.
Build for you!
